About the Podcast

Topic: We were pleased to have Dino Marsili speak to us at today’s Episode #24 of the Outliers Inn. Dino is a Certified Master Black Belt at Cisco Systems. In fact, he is the first ever Cisco Certified Master Black Belt. His predecessors are all recognized Master Black Belts from other companies. It took Dino just under 18 months to complete the Master Black Belt certification journey. Dino shared his experience over the years. He graduated as a Chemical / Petroleum Engineer and worked 19 years as a Chemical and Petroleum Engineer for Chevron Corporation. His quality journey started about halfway through that tenure when he became the ISO 9000 Coordinator at one of Chevron’s major chemical plants. His Six Sigma journey began in 2001 when he left Chevron for Sun Microsystems. He became certified as Green and Black Belt at Sun. After 8 years and being acquired by Oracle, Dino moved on to his current role at Cisco. The conversation centered on the success of Dino’s Six Sigma Program at Cisco. Now considered a mature and well-recognized program, Dino is still pitted with challenges. Check out the discussions about the Hegelian Dialectic, Mount Stupid, and how Dino plans to beat the trend.

Hosts:Joseph Paris, Founder of the OpEx Society & The XONITEK Group of Companies
Benjamin Taylor,  Managing Partner of RedQuadrant, and Chief Executive of the Public Service Transformation Academy.
